Pelvic-floor timer and guided sessions for men past 40
Most sessions done in a chair
5positions
3–8minutes a session
1 wordon each reminder
Phone, tablet and web
For the man who still wants her, and wants to feel sure of himself with her.
Keel is a pocket companion for Kegel and pelvic-floor practice: a timer, short guided sessions in five positions, and reminders that arrive when the day has a gap. What follows is a letter from the app about how it is built, and why.
A letter from Keel, about what men notice after 40
Dear reader,
Keel is software, so this letter comes from the app itself, in plain words. Most men past 40 notice a handful of things long before they say any of them out loud. Keel names them here, because naming them is the honest place to start.
Less drive than you rememberWanting her is still there. Some evenings the pull to act on it is quieter than it used to be.
Nights broken by the bathroomUp at two, up again at four, and the morning starts already tired.
Strength and stamina, not quite what they wereThe last set at the gym, the long shift on your feet, the stairs with the shopping.
Being in your head in the bedroomWondering whether she still feels wanted, and whether you come across as sure of yourself with her.
Wanting to feel like yourselfPresent for her, for the kids and for the work you are proud of.
None of this is a verdict on who you are. It is common, it is rarely discussed between men, and it deserves the same plain attention you would give a stiff back.
What Keel offers is narrow on purpose: a set of pelvic-floor exercises, the positions they are done in, and the tools to fit them into a crowded day. The rest of this letter lays out each part in detail, so you can judge it on that detail.
A neighbourhood gym, late afternoon. For many men the thought first arrives after a session where the last set felt heavier than it used to.
The muscle most men were never shown
The pelvic floor is a layer of muscle that runs across the bottom of the pelvis, front to back, like a hammock slung between the hips. A Kegel is a deliberate squeeze and lift of that layer, followed by a complete let-go. Keel's sessions rest on four details of how that is done.
Find it before you train itThe first session only locates the muscle. The cue: the squeeze you would use to stop yourself passing wind in a quiet room. Legs, seat and stomach stay soft.
Breath leads, the squeeze followsBreathe out as you squeeze and lift, breathe in as you release. A held breath presses down while you are trying to lift, so the timer paces the breath first.
The release is half the repSqueeze and let-go get equal counts. Keel times both, because letting go fully is part of the exercise, not the pause between reps.
Two kinds of repSlow reps, squeezed for a count of five and released for five, alternate with quick ones, squeezed and released inside a second.
A mat, a glass of water, a towel. Nothing else is needed for any session in the app.
Five positions, from easiest to feel to hardest
Keel sequences the positions by gravity. Lying down, nothing presses on the hammock, so the squeeze is easiest to find. Standing and squatting, it carries more, so those come later, once the cue feels familiar.
Lying down3 minOn your back, knees bent, feet flat and hip-width apart. One hand rests on the stomach to notice if it tightens.
Seated4 minUpright on a firm chair or the car seat, feet flat, weight even on both sit bones. The one most men use at a desk.
Standing4 minFeet under the hips, knees soft, shoulders loose. Fits a queue, the kettle, the lift up to the office.
Bridge5 minOn your back, lift the hips into a line from shoulders to knees, squeeze at the top, lower with the release. Glutes and hips join the set.
Deep squat6 minHeels down, feet wider than the hips, one hand on a door frame or counter for balance. Paired with slow breathing and a hip-mobility stretch.
What opens when you tap the icon
Keel is built for men whose days are already full. Sessions run from three to eight minutes, most can be done fully clothed in a chair, and nobody beside you can tell.

TimerA ring that fills on the squeeze and empties on the release. Pace, rep count and rest are all adjustable.
Guided sessionsShort voice-led sets for each of the five positions, plus breathing, core and hip-mobility sessions. Text cues on screen when sound is off.
RemindersTied to moments rather than alarms: parking the car, the evening train, after brushing your teeth. Each one shows a single neutral word you pick.
Evening wind-downA slow breath-and-hips sequence for the hour before bed, lying down, lights low.
A seat on the evening train. A seated set needs no space, no kit and no explanation to the person next to you.
Positions for the night together
Intimacy is the part of this most men want to talk about and rarely do. Keel keeps a short library of positions for the two of you, each described by comfort, closeness and pace, to read together or on your own.
Side by side
Comfort
Both on your sides, you behind her. No weight on knees or wrists; the lower back stays neutral.
Closeness
Your arms are free to hold her.
Pace
Slow by nature, easy to pause and talk.
Face to face, lying
Comfort
Both on your sides facing each other, a pillow under each head.
Closeness
Eye contact the whole way through, an arm around her shoulders.
Pace
Unhurried, set by both of you.
Seated, facing each other
Comfort
You sit upright against the headboard with a pillow at your back; she settles facing you.
Closeness
Close enough to talk in a low voice.
Pace
Gentle, with small movements.
She sets the pace
Comfort
You lie back, head and shoulders on a pillow; she is above, facing you. Restful for back and knees.
Closeness
Your hands stay with her, your eyes on hers.
Pace
Hers to lead, as fast or as slow as she likes.
Alongside them sit a few pages on talking about it with her: how to bring the subject up, and why a walk or a drive is often an easier place to start that conversation than the bedroom.
A parked car on a weekday evening. The wish most men carry is a plain one: to feel close to her, and wanted by her.
P.S.
If you have read this far, one of the five positions probably already fits a gap in tomorrow: the car before work, the chair at your desk, the floor before bed. That gap is the moment Keel is built for.

Keel membership
One plan, billed monthly. Everything in this letter is inside it.
Code BEARING is applied to the first month.
If Keel turns out not to suit you, a full refund is available on request for 21 days after your first payment.
Keel charges $6.29 today for the first month of membership. When that month ends, the membership renews at $8.99 and carries on renewing monthly at that price. To stop the next charge, cancel in the app's account settings before the renewal date, or by contacting us — [email protected]
Discretion, kit and the doctor
Will anyone see what the app is for?
The home-screen icon shows the Keel mark and name. Reminders show one neutral word you pick, such as "Pause". Sessions can run silently with on-screen cues, and the app can sit behind your phone's own lock.
Do I need equipment or a gym?
No. A bed or mat for the lying positions and the bridge, a firm chair for seated work, and a door frame or kitchen counter to steady yourself in the deep squat.
Should I speak to a doctor first?
Keel is an exercise timer and guide, not medical care. If you have pain, a recent operation, or anything that worries you, see a doctor before starting a new routine.
